Slaughterhouse

Slaughterhouse was an acclaimed American hip-hop supergroup formed in 2008. Renowned for reviving the "lyricist" era of complex, hardcore rap, the group consisted of four established solo artists: Joe Budden, Royce da 5'9", Joell Ortiz, and Kxng Crooked (formerly Crooked I).Group Biography and History. The group's formation was sparked when Kxng Crooked, Joell Ortiz, and Royce da 5'9" collaborated on the track "Slaughterhouse" from Joe Budden’s 2008 mixtape, Halfway House. Because all four members were experiencing friction with their respective major labels at the time, they channeled their frustrations into their music and formed a permanent collective. They recorded their self-titled debut album in just six days and released it independently in 2009. Shortly after, the supergroup signed with Eminem’s Shady Records. Under Shady/Interscope, they released their second and final studio album, Welcome to: Our House, in 2012. Although a third album titled Glass House was recorded, it was heavily delayed and ultimately never officially released due to label frustrations and creative differences. In April 2018, Kxng Crooked announced his departure from the group, and shortly thereafter, Royce da 5'9" confirmed that Slaughterhouse had officially disbanded.
