Formed in Queens in 1985, A Tribe Called Quest became one of the most influential groups in hip-hop history, pioneering the jazz-rap subgenre. Led by Q-Tip and Phife Dawg, the group released a string of critically acclaimed albums before disbanding in 1998. They reunited for sporadic tours and eventually released a final, chart-topping album in 2016 following the death of Phife Dawg.
